Colon Cleansing – What You Need to Know Before You Take the Plunge
Using various methods, colon cleansing has been taking place for many a decade. Recently though, the use of colon cleansing to promote all round good health, has found a new popularity with the various products, supplements and informational guides readily available. But before you even think about undertaking a colon cleanse, just what are the facts that you need to know?
Well to begin with, it’s crucial that you understand just what people mean when they refer to a colon cleanse. Basically they are referring to the clearing out of waste/feaces from the intestines to promote renewed health and well being.
When we eat our bodies break down the foods and nutrients so that we can readily digest and absorb the parts of the food that our bodies need to function and remain well. Inevitably, over time, some of this natural process leaves behind a build up of waste products. Over time this left behind waste builds up until we become backed up and start to feel the consequences of this.
Want to know exactly what’s backing up in our intestines? Well the obvious feces aside, there’s also a mixture of parasitic worms: tapeworms, hookworms and other parasites. We’re basically carrying around a sewer in our bodies and we all know that sewers are not the most pleasant and health fostering places.
No surprise then that those in need of a colon cleanse regularly report feeling generally unwell and specifically have bloated stomachs, disturbed sleep patterns, constipation, diarrhea and stomach pains.
A colon cleanse will basically act as a scrub, scrubbing away the dead and rotting ingredients left behind in the intestines enabling them to then pass out of the body as urine and faeces.
So if you’re not having regular bowel movements, chances are you could benefit from a cleanse. But just what is considered ‘regular’? Well the thought is that you really need to have one bowel movement per meal. Therefore if you are eating three meals per day, then you should be having three bowel movements per day! Four meals per day? Then four per day!
The benefits to those who undergo a colon cleanse are often feeling rejuvenated, energized with increased mental concentration and attention span and improved sleep patterns.
What should also be highlighted is the link between colon cleansing and weight loss. The amount of waste that the body can rid itself of during a cleanse ranges from 3-15 pounds per week. It’s therefore clear why colon cleansing has become such a popular means towards healthy and sustained weight loss.
All that’s left to be said is how to choose the most effective way to perform the cleanse.
There’s of course the old fashioned laxative, but this method can be very hard on the body and is not the most effective way to perform a cleanse because the body is likely to become dehydrated and very little beneficial use will be gained from this method.
Dietary is also a method to be considered. This basically involves cutting out processed and foods high in fat, especially saturated fats and sugars. Instead fruits and vegetables in their purest forms should be eaten. It is also advisable to add some fiber to the diet as this will help to keep the body working and balanced.
The other most popular method for a cleanse is the use of a supplement like Bowtrol that has proven results to colon cleansing.
